I do believe the newest catalog is a real ?keeper? just like the catalogs of yesteryear. Yay! Tonight was the first time I?ve really been able to sit down and go through the March 2006 catalog, the one with the girl holding Jess on the cover with just sky in the background. Page after page has adorable scenes. The catalog is no longer a boring list of products. Now there are photos of dolls having FUN. And there are more photos of girls having fun with dolls too.
Page 12-13 has the historical dolls wearing their new playtime outfits. I love the scenery, complete with paths, flowers and frisky pups.
Page 18 has two girls with Felicity, Elizabeth and items outside, sitting in real grass.
Page 24 ? 25 showcases Kit with her items. I LOVE the awesome trellis with roses displayed next to Kit?s party table. Very, very cool. I'm planning on making some trellises with popsicle sticks painted white so it's nice to have a photo to use a guideline. The lanterns strung up look so festive.
Page 30 has Elizabeth looking like she?s actually doing something, not just staring blankly into the camera.
Page 34 has two girls outdoors playing with two Kayas. The way the sun is shining and the wind is blowing makes Kaya look so at home and sweet. Afterall, Kaya BELONGS outdoors.
Page 43 shows an AGT doll in the Embroidered Party Dress. But she?s not just standing there, she just left a May Day bouquet on a door knob. So cute! There are even directions for making a mini May Day basket for your doll too.
I?m very pleased with all the changes to the catalog. AG is finally creating a ?world of doll play? and using a catalog to allow me to join in the fun. For the first time, I feel like I?m not reading a ?BUY THIS, Buy THAT? catalog but rather ?WE are having fun! Would you like to join us??
I?m quite pleased.

I love your description of this catalog! I had to get mine back out to see all the pages you were talking about. I like that AG is making their photos more creative.
ETA: The photo on the back cover of the girl with Kit is really adorable! I love the outdoor pictures best; it really makes the models look like real girls playing with their dolls.

I think it's a cute catalog too, although I still wish I had a PC one from mid nineties. Guess I'll have to keep a lookout on ebay. But yes, the new one is cute and the scenes are adorable! So I do agree that this one is a keeper!

I know, it was really much more interesting than other ones! Don't forget the Licorice and Coconut page- finally Coconut has a background! The 3-in-1 bed also has some stuff too- you can tell it's in a room, you can see a window. I envy the house on the embroidered party dress page, it's so pretty!

Julia,
I'm off to find the trellis on the Kit page. We have oodles of sticks & my brother gave dd a nice size lot of small roses that he had leftover from an art project. Now to decide...pink roses or yellow. Funny how someone else can look at the same book & see things so differently. I guess in your case it's through the eyes of an artist...and we get the benefit of you sharing with us. Thanks so much! [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

P.S. Post a picture of your trellis for us when you finish.

Yes, you are so right!
My dds and I just loved this catalog for that very same reason. I love seeing the dolls and accessories with real girls in the pictures. It makes the products seem more like real playthings instead of just decorator pieces. Another thing about it that I like is that it makes it easier to tell how big the items are. It seems like every time I get something from AG, I always say, "Oh my gosh, I didn't know it was so (insert big or small here)"
I'm so glad they are making more consumer friendly catalogs, too. I'm still hoping for a complete all historical catalog, though someday. (fingers crossed)

I moved recently and that has slowed up some of my mail. I hope I get this catalog soon. It sounds great.

I just got a catalog with the new purple dress on the front, so I doubt I'll get this one... but I think those who really like this style catalog should consider taking a few moments to email CS to tell them. If they know we like it better- maybe it will stay this way!
